Vegan Chocolate Peppermint Shake (Better than the Shamrock Shake)
OK folks, this is waaaaaaaaaaaaay better than your chemical filled McDonald’s Shamrock Shake. I know many of us yearn for that shamrock-y shake love this time of year, so I put together a waaaaaay yummier CHOCOLATE version of this shake (um, hello? How can chocolate not make it better!?). It took me about 5 minutes to throw this together for a healthy, tasty, minty treat. It’s EASY PEASY, vegan and made with all healthy stuff too, so feel free to indulge.
5-8 pitted medjool dates
1/2 half banana
1 cup – 1 1/2 cups of coconut milk or almond milk (I used coconut here)
2 drops of peppermint oil (I used DoTerra essential oil)
1 tsp vanilla extract
2 tbsp of raw organic cacao powder
1-2 cups of ice
(I used organic ingredients, but you can use what you can find.)
Put this all in a Vitamix, or blender of choice, and blend away! If you want it sweeter, add the whole banana and/or a few more dates. Throw in a eco-friendly bamboo straw and you are ready for spring time. Best part is, you can have one of these a day, vs. that chemical ridden goop from McD’s.
You can also use peppermint extract instead which is less potent than the DoTerra essential oil, but I have all the essential oils and plus the peppermint oil is great for SO MANY other things (like headaches!). You can find it here.
